I was the guy with the perfect morning routine. 5 AM wake-up. Cold shower. Meditation. Journaling. Exercise. All before breakfast.
I tracked everything. Sleep scores. Heart rate variability. Productivity metrics. I had dashboards for my dashboards.
And you know what? I was miserable. I was so focused on optimizing that I forgot what I was optimizing for.
The breaking point came when I realized I was stressing about my stress-tracking app showing high stress levels. The irony wasn't lost on me.
So I stopped. Cancelled the tracking apps. Deleted the spreadsheets. Let myself sleep until I naturally woke up.
Nothing collapsed. My work didn't suffer. If anything, it improved—because I wasn't exhausted from the performance of productivity.
Good enough is good enough. Stop optimizing. Start living.
